TOWN HALL 5: Crisis in Healthcare (see more)
Monday, August 24, 2020
6:00 PM

Watch the recording of this event.

Dr. Barbra Villona, international emergency physician, Dr. Kathy Mechling, family practice physician, Dr. Ginger Jaschke, pediatric psychiatrist, and Dr. Margaret Philhower, Naturopathic Physician joined us for this important town hall. Senator Jeff Golden Joined us to discuss the future of the Oregon Health Plan.

In the midst of this pandemic and economic crisis, we have a developing crisis in healthcare. We discussed some of the different dimensions of this crisis, such as access to care, PPE for caregivers, workers’ compensation, stress and burnout for care providers, prevention of trauma for children and other issues.

With the COVID-19 crisis it is more crucial than ever that everyone have access to testing, medical advice and treatment.

Many have lost their jobs and their health care coverage, and we are also facing a Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan funding crisis all across the country.

We are struggling to convince and motivate many in our communities to follow the safety guidelines that have been outlined by local, state and national healthcare professionals.

Another issue we discussed are the dangers that our caregivers face. Some of our hospitals have inadequate PPE for nurses, yet we have heard of some hospitals that have denied worker’s comp claims if nurses contract the virus. I also hear of the access struggles of migrant farm workers. There are many related issues.

TOWN HALL 4: Listening to Youth Voices (see more)
Monday, August 17, 2020
6:30 PM

Jerry engaged a fabulous panel of 5 young activists in a dialogue about our political climate and what is happening in our communities, our state and our country, to learn what issues they think we should focus on.

We want to even more effectively welcome young people into community dialogue. Their voices are important, and we need to bring our young citizens to the table and engage with them!
I deeply enjoyed to listening and hearing what they had to say.

VOLUNTEER STRATEGY MEETING
AUGUST 3, 2020
6:00 PM

SO MUCH TO DO – SO LITTLE TIME TO DO IT!

We are getting down to the wire and there is much outreach to be done.

Please join us as we discuss this, and other volunteer opportunities to amplify my messaging and outreach for the remainder of the campaign. This is a crucial election, and we need your help.

Participants will need to pre-register given the nature of the meeting:
https://bit.ly/30fzoS1
Date: Monday August 3, 2020
Time: 6:00 pm

One priority we have currently is the need to collect 200 valid signatures from registered voters in Oregon State Senate District 2, to get my candidate statement into the Voter Information Pamphlet. Without these signatures, we will have to spend $750 for this to be included in the Voter Information Pamphlet.

The signature petition and instructions can be downloaded from here. Even if you don’t make it to the Zoom meeting, if you live in Senate District 2, please help us by completing this form and submitting to us ASAP. Additional information and instructions are included in the document.

If you aren’t sure what district you live in, visit https://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/ and enter your address.

I hope you will join me on Zoom this Monday.

If you have any specific questions or suggestions, you can send them in advance to communi*******@**rryallenforsenate.com
