The Climate Crisis & its Effect on Wildland Fires
The climate crisis is real. Rising ground temperatures combined with extended droughts are contributing to wildland fires that not only destroy properties, but also affect the air quality and health of our citizens. We now live in constant fear of wildland fires, and many remember breathing the smoke polluted air during the fire storms of 2018. We must start fighting this climate crisis now, to protect our homes, our forests, and our health.
We may not all agree to what degree of the climate crisis has been human caused, but our children and grandchildren’s lives are on the line. NASA’s website states that over 97% of the actively published climate scientists agree the climate crisis is real. If they are correct, we cannot afford to gamble on our children and grandchildren’s futures and do nothing.
I will work to shift our economy to renewables and green approaches, so that we can create thousands of living wage jobs, and end our dependence on foreign oil. I want to be part of the solution so that we can give our children the future they deserve.
