Oregon should lead the way in retrofitting bridges, hospitals and key facilities to withstand a major earthquake or disaster. If we care about our communities, we must be prepared and have a plan. I will work with our local and state legislators to improve our infrastructures so that we are well prepared for any disaster that may occur in our community and in our state.
In order to withstand and recover from disasters or pandemics such as the COVID-19 virus, I will support a robust public health agency and well-funded, expertly trained first responders. I will also encourage and support more community emergency response team training (CERT) so that our citizens learn to be better prepared, and enable us to weave our own safety net. By having a community that is better prepared, and trained to work alongside our first responders, we can all be a part of the recovery solutions in response to disasters.
